Problems with the Assignment

I was all set up to complete part 2 of the assignment. I brought four Laptops to the classroom and had the site already set up. "Clearlightofday2.blogspot.com" I preposted three questions in which I wanted the class to discuss. They all saw it and seemed impressed. The students went about their way writing out their post and commenting and then the problem came about. Close to when the class was coming to a close they began to post. Problem began! The verification letter came on and no one in the groups could post. It kept on saying waiting to verify. I was so disappointed and so was the students. After they left I tried to post something else to the site and it work. What happen was all 7 groups where on the site at the same time I believe the system was overloaded so that is why it didn't work. In turn I had to give the classwork as an homework assignment due on Monday. I have checked tonight to see if any of the students posted anything, but noticed only one comment. I also noticed that I again tonight was having trouble posting a comment. Could it be that the students was posted again at the same time? I will see the finished product Monday.

Ps. We had Election here in Antigua on Thursday, I believe that is why I Have not seen any new post as yet.

  1. Few things in the classroom are more frustrating than a well thought out lesson with enthusiastic students that comes to a crashing halt. Do not give up yet. If the problem continues I would check with your IT people. Maybe it is a matter of a server setting or patch needed. Good luck!

  2. Sorry to hear about the bottleneck. Sometimes systems think they are being hacked into and will shut down a particular IP address for a short time. Maybe this is what happened.

  3. We have a 30 laptop traveling computer lab, we call it the C.O.W. (Computers On Wheels) the cart is unbelievably heavy. Anyway, it is a great tool in theory but unfortunately logging in alone bottle necks the connection. We have to log on five at a time in order to get everyone on which takes a minimum of 20 minutes of class time. Then the connection is so slow that very little actually is accomplished during the class. The students get so frustrated (rightly so) that it has taken the excitement out of the lesson. Our issue is a networking issue, since we are wireless we are using a,b,g bands rather than the n band that is wider and faster.

  4. jpizelo,
maybe that is what happen with us too. The connection is so slow that it becomes so frustrating that it takes the fun out of the activity. However, I noticed that over the weekend my students were still able to post. So I guess all was not lost. I have a feeling it has something to do with blog spot to because it kept on displaying word verification for about 15 mins. I know what you mean about the slowness takes the excitement out of class. I felt like that. You know I really appreciate your support.
