Reflection of 6714

As the course comes to a close, I am left to think about how I plan on using the many different resources from our Differentiation Station found on the Ning Social Networking. I must admit, I amn so glad that I took this course so that I was introduced to use the Ning Stite. This form of social Networking was extremely easy. The Ning site was used as host for us to share what we found on the principles of Universal Design for Learning, along with Differentiated Instruction. The group work that we did was hosted on site as well, and it was easy to share, discuss and collaborate our resources, access help, and share our resources. I remember that we scheduled an event and only two of us showed up using chat. We utilized that time to discuss the course, or likes and dislike, even graduation. The network was used to share work in process as well as finding ideas from other. The Social Networking sites has many functions such as blogs, discussion, chat, forum, and video viewing just to name a few and can be used in many different capacities. Though the grouping was designed to discuss Differentiation there where many times that I had to go on to ask for clarification for assignments. Even though the course is concluded. I always can go back to the site, and used it as my online reference to UDL and DI.

Another aspect I liked about the Differentiation Station I was able to exchange with my peers some cool resources, templates, and videos that they found on learning profiles, and Students Interest. Through the study of the DI and UDL I found that it is important to educate other teachers, and show them the benefits from this type of instructions. Through team teaching I will be able to encourage this form of teaching to others. Just like my fellow teachers did with me.
The two immediate adjustment that I attend to make from taken this course is that I am going to create surveys through survey monkeys, questionaire,or interview in order to determine the likes and dislikes of my students. I believe this is a very important start because as a teacher you know what you are up against right from the start. I also believe that this will allow a closer connection with my students and help me to determine my students weaknesses and strengths. I also plan on making a concerted effort in finding different avenues in order to achieve the same goal.
The second thing that I am going to do is use the social network within my classroom. I have been working on it all day. Uploading videos, and creating discussion. I like this tool, and I can see the benefits that it will have on my students in regards to collaboration, discussion, chat, and blogs. I will continue you learning about DI, and continue to use it through out my teaching.
